About the SoM
The School of Management (SoM) is the HSG’s largest School and is internationally renowned for its unique linkage of economic sciences and practical work.

As the largest school of the HSG, the School of Management (SoM) is a key pillar of the education and research concept at the University of St.Gallen. As an independent partner of the other schools, the SoM contributes to the cultivation and furthering of the goals, mission and culture of HSG. It sees itself as a catalyst for the development of innovative practices, promotes internationally recognised research and stands for superior teaching.
Our three main goals are
1. High-quality education with outstanding support of our students.
2. Excellence in research.
3. A high-level of practical relevance and transfer to the regional and international business world.
Members
The SoM is comprised of 38 chairs and 36 assistant professors who are involved in a many different institutions, research areas and centres.
Profile areas
The SoM also includes two profile areas:
- “Business Innovation”
- “Responsible Corporate Competitiveness” (RoCC)
These profile areas reflect the strengths and core competencies in the combination of research, teaching and proven practical experience.
