The St Gallus anniversary

The mendicant monk St Gallus also brought science and education into the region at the time. Now, we are proud to carry his name out into the world as an internationally interlinked university.

The topic of the 612/2012 Gallus Anniversary was raised in a number of public lectures. The Abbey Librarian dealt with the history of the city, an historian with regional history, and a theologian with traditional local saints and the legends connected with them.

Another public lecture series will take place in the Autumn Semester. The speakers will be President Thomas Bieger, City Mayor Thomas Scheitlin, Bishop Markus Büchel, Dr. Kurt Weigelt, President of the local Chamber of Industry and Commerce, and Prof. Ulrike Landfester; the topic will be “Gallus now”.
